About Beck Cultural Exchange Center

Founded in 1975 in a house on Dandridge Avenue, Beck holds the region's deepest archive of Black East Tennessee history, including the Delaney Museum honoring painters Beauford and Joseph Delaney. Exhibits confront the 1919 Red Summer violence and the erasure of Black neighborhoods by urban renewal. It anchors the Beck Cultural Corridor and hosts the Eighth of August Jubilee.
