About East Tennessee Historical Society
The ETHS traces back to 1834 and today operates across 35 East Tennessee counties through 45 affiliate chapters. Its Museum of East Tennessee History opened downtown in 2008 and anchors a program of exhibitions, lectures and genealogy workshops. Through a partnership with the Knox County Public Library it also houses the Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection.
